Does Kosmea test on animals?
We do not test our skin care products on animals as part of our product development process, we do not outsource this activity to any third parties, nor have we ever included animal testing in our product development process in the past. We work closely with our ingredient suppliers and manufacturers to ensure they are aware of our company values and policies. We remain highly committed to our existing policy of not using animal testing in the development of our products. We continue to adhere to the strict requirements of global cosmetic regulations regarding animal testing, with utmost respect for our customers and environment.
As our range of products have developed and grown, so to, has our advocates. That means, Kosmea is now available globally, in countries that include China.
Additional information relating to local market laws
In China, local laws and regulations require that all cosmetic products imported into China undergo animal testing to demonstrate consumer safety as part of the product registration process.
Finished product samples are required to be submitted to a third party laboratory in China for testing in order to generate a safety profile for the product. This is a mandatory legal requirement applicable to all cosmetic products imported into China.
Considerable research has been undertaken into non-animal testing alternatives and China’s Food and Drug Administration, or CFDA has recently implemented a new registration process for certain cosmetics produced in China which means that animal testing will no longer be mandatory for these products. We are encouraged by this progress and are eager to see China amend its laws to extend this to allow alternatives to animal testing for imported cosmetic products. We will work closely with our Chinese agent to ensure that the alternative testing methods are utilised for our products as they are approved.
Until these laws come into effect, we will continue to service our loyal advocates in China with our range of Rosehip Oil products produced using the highest standards, with the utmost integrity and the highest regard for health and safety.

Can you use Kosmea products around the eye area?

My Certified Organic Rosehip Oil smells/looks different to the last one that I purchased, is there something wrong with it?
At Kosmea we take great pride in sourcing the finest rose hip oil in the world, which comes from a certified organic source where no fertilisers or pesticides are used. Our oil has a natural earthy smell, as we use fruit, skin and the seed of the rose hip to extract our oil. It is the outer casing of the rose hip that is rich with the antioxidant lycopene, which gives our oil that beautiful, rich amber colour. To ensure we give our customers a rose hip oil rich in its natural vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids, we have chosen to have minimal intervention in its production. Therefore, we do not bleach, colour, or deodorise our oil to make it more commercially attractive. As we choose not to intervene with nature it does mean that as a result of seasonal climate and crop changes, our organic rose hip oil may vary slightly in colour, aroma and texture. We guarantee you that the quality and performance of the product is unaffected and your rose hip oil is exactly as nature intended.
What can I use on my baby to keep their skin hydrated?
Kosmea Certified Organic Rosehip Oil can be used babies from birth to keep their skin nourished and healthy. Massaged into baby’s damp skin it is easily absorbed and non-greasy. As a natural source of essential fatty acids and vitamins it moisturises and replenishes the skin, helping to protect it from dryness and itchiness. Other products that can be used on babies include our Rescue Balm, Nourishing Treatment Cream, and Hydrating Rosewater Mist.
Your rosehip oil contains vitamin A, can I still use it during pregnancy?
We recommend Kosmea Certified Organic Rosehip Oil during and after pregnancy, as it may help in maintaining skin elasticity, help to restore skin moisture and help to minimise the appearance of stretch marks. Kosmea Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is a fruit oil and can be used on both mother and baby at anytime. The vitamin A in our oil is naturally occurring, just as it is in the fruit and vegetables we eat every day, and is safe to use during pregnancy.
Can I still use your Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, now that I use the Eighth Natural Wonder™?
Yes you can! At Kosmea we have developed a skincare range that has no hard and fast rules. Our promise is to make skincare as natural and uncomplicated as possible. If you are a current user of Kosmea’s Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil and you are happy with the results you are getting then we recommend you continue to use it. If you want to use both products, we recommend first applying the oil to damp skin and allowing it to absorb and then applying Kosmea Eighth Natural Wonder™ Revitalising Facial Serum for the added anti-ageing and firming benefits of hibiscus extract

Why is Rosa Canina Now On Rose Hip Oil Labels?
With the introduction of the new Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil packaging, the ingredient name of the rose hip has changed from Rosa Eglanteria to Rosa Canina. This is because the product is being sold throughout the world, and Rosa Canina is a more universally accepted and recognized name for the same ingredient.
The rose hip oil ingredient has NOT changed. And Kosmea continues to source its 100% certified organic rose hips from the Maluti Mountains of Lesotho, a small country in southern Africa, where rose hips grow wild and are not commercially farmed. The rose hips are hand-picked by the local people of Lesotho, providing the community with a sustainable income.
The processing of the entire rose hips (fruit, skin, and seed) using supercritical fluid extraction has not changed either. This most expensive form of processing ensures that the oil contains the highest-possible concentrations of skin-nourishing vitamin A.
