Rosehip Oil for fine lines and wrinkles – an anti-ageing tonic for your skin

Wrinkles are a natural part of the ageing process. As you get older, your skin loses its elasticity, and wrinkles will form initially where you squint, frown or smile. Yes, it’s a part of growing older, but there are ways to maintain healthy looking skin at any age.

Kosmea’s philosophy is to support the body’s natural healing process through our skincare range. Ageing is inevitable, but by using Rosehip Oil, you’re helping your skin to rejuvenate and restore itself, giving it the best opportunity to remain supple and balanced as you get older.

Rosehip Oil has unique anti-ageing properties which we discuss further down in this article. This nutrient-rich oil helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, lessening the effects of ageing.

Let’s look at the science behind skin.

Your skin is the largest organ in your body

The skin is the largest organ in your body and has five essential roles:

  • Protects us from UV rays
  • Maintains fluid balance (hydration)
  • Regulates our body temperature
  • Protects us from infections and allergic reactions
  • Communication of expression, heat and cold

The skin is made up of a complex network of fibres giving it resilience and elasticity.

What causes wrinkles?

The primary components of the skin are collagen and elastin fibres which make up the structure of the skin. Collagen fibres are interlaced with a fine net of elastin to give your skin its strength, elasticity, smoothness and resilience.

Healthy skin has a strong network of collagen and elastin fibres making the skin more resilient and supple. Ageing causes this network of collagen to break down and the elastin molecules reduce in number. The skin becomes thinner and more transparent as the deeper or subcutaneous skin layer loses fat. The skin loses its ability to spring back into place after a frown or a smile, so we begin to see lines and wrinkles.

This is nature at work, but there are other activities that cause these fibres to break down such as:

  • Exposure to UV light (sun, tanning beds)
  • Smoking
  • Dehydration
  • Diet
  • Genetics

Sun exposure is by far the most common reason for premature ageing. For most people, up to 90% of sun damage has already been done by the time a person reaches eighteen.

Rosehip Oil is rich in Vitamin A and Essential Fatty Acids, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Short term gain doesn’t lead to long term results

Short term results reducing the appearance of wrinkles can be achieved with many products that contain ingredients that firm and plump the skin. These ingredients affect the outer layers of the skin, leaving it feeling comfortable and smooth. In the long term, however, the skin essentials are sacrificed, and the results are the same – ageing, wrinkled skin. To maintain healthy skin as you age, it’s essential to stay one step ahead of the ageing process.

One of the skin’s roles is to “breathe” – to absorb oxygen for the cells to rejuvenate and restore themselves. Many modern skin care products today still contain harmful petrochemicals and synthetic ingredients which prevent the skin from breathing.

Why is Rosehip Oil an ideal anti-ageing tonic?

Your skin receives its nutrients both internally and externally. Kosmea’s Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is a light oil and easily absorbed by the skin. Rosehip Oil has two key components which help the skin maintain its ability to restore, heal and rejuvenate. These are Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamin A.

Essential Fatty Acids – Omega 3 and 6

Essential fatty acids play a key role in the maintenance and regeneration of the collagen and elastin fibres that keep skin firm and youthful. The essential fatty acids and vitamins in Rosehip Oil re readily absorbed by the skin and help to slow the breakdown of these fibres.

In addition to this benefit, with its neutral pH balance and anti-inflammatory properties, Rosehip Oil keeps skin balanced and healthy, helping to protect against cell degeneration caused by bacteria and oxidants.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A has proven and effective properties in healing, restoring and rejuvenating the skin.

Vitamin A produces retinol which stimulates collagen production, boosting the skin’s resilience and quality. The science behind Vitamin A has shown that our skin readily absorbs Vitamin A when applied topically.

Kosmea’s Rosehip Oil has the highest levels of Vitamin A of all Rosehip Oils available on the market. Our unique extraction methods maintain the integrity of Vitamin A in the oil.

Kosmea’s natural skincare products balance, restore and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

By adding Rosehip Oil to your daily skincare routine, you will see an improvement in the quality and texture of your skin within a few weeks. This beautiful oil has healing properties that can also be used for scarring, wounds and sores, inflammation and more.
