Rosehip Oil

What is Rosehip Oil?

Rosehip Oil is the oil extracted from the hip of the rose.

The hip is the fruit which remains after a rose has bloomed and the petals have dropped. Kosmea’s unique rosehip extraction process uses a supercritical (CO2) extraction method without heat or chemicals. This maintains the high level of Vitamin A and the integrity of the oil’s powerful healing properties.

What does Rosehip Oil do for the skin?

Rosehip Oil is a fine oil easily absorbed and therefore able to penetrate the deeper layers of your skin without leaving behind an oily residue. The two vital components of Rosehip Oil that help your skin are the high levels of vitamin A and essential fatty acids.

Kosmea’s organic Rosehip oil is available worldwide in three different sizes

Why are Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamin A important for the skin?

Essential fatty acids such as Omega 3 and 6 are responsible for skin renewal, repairing damaged skin and reducing inflammation

Vitamin A stimulates collagen production, boosting the skin’s resilience and quality. Research has shown that our skin readily absorbs Vitamin A when applied topically.

These two ingredients working together help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scarring (old and new scars), alleviate the effects of eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and rosacea, and soothe dry and sensitive skin.

The use of Rosehip Oil for the skin dates back to ancient times. The Egyptians and Romans understood the powerful restorative and regeneration properties of rosehip.

What makes Kosmea’s Rosehip Oil the best on the market?

Listen to founder Marie Kapetanakis about why Kosmea’s Rosehip Oil is the best on the market.

Highest Levels of Vitamin A

Our Rosehip Oil is the most pure with 10X more Vitamin A than any other Rosehip oil on the market. We use the entire fruit including the skin and seed of the rose hip. Kosmea has perfected a specialist technique to gently extract the oil from the fruit using a supercritical (CO2) extraction method without heat or chemicals. Heat destroys Vitamin A so this process maintains the integrity of the oil’s powerful healing properties. Vitamin A is responsible for stimulating collagen production.

Ethically sourced, wild grown and 100% certified organic rose hips

Our philosophy is to live in balance with the world around us, taking only what we need to live with health and wellbeing. We are committed to ethically sourcing wild certified organic rosehips which are hand-picked by communities in Lesotho. This ensures a sustainable income for the people of Lesotho and that you receive the highest quality certified organic rosehip oil.

The properties of Rosehip Oil which benefit the skin

The benefits of Rosehip Oil have been known for centuries by ancient cultures. The Romans and Egyptians used Rosehip Oil to restore lustre to skin and hair.

Rosehip Oil is one of nature’s healing gifts that Kosmea has carefully crafted while maintaining the integrity of its essential properties.

Benefits of Rosehip Oil

High in Essential Fatty Acids

Rosehip Oil is rich in Omega 3 and 6, essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce itself, relying on external sources. Essential fatty acids are needed to repair damaged skin tissue and regenerate skin cells. Kosmea’s Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is guaranteed to contain a minimum of 80% essential fatty acids.

Benefit to skin: Rosehip Oil helps dry and sun damaged skin, and help to improve the appearance of burns, scars, and stretch marks. Rosehip oil helps fine lines and wrinkles as the essential fatty acids and vitamins are readily absorbed by the skin to slow the breakdown of collagen and elastic fibres.

Natural source of Vitamin A

Rosehip Oil is rich in vitamin A (trans-retinoic acid). The latest research shows that trans-retinoic acid can help prevent premature ageing caused by sun exposure and the ageing process. When skin is exposed to the sun, it can increase levels of enzymes that lead to the breakdown of collagen and elastin.

Benefit to skin: Vitamin A in rosehip oil reduces the activity of these enzymes, reducing damage caused by the sun. Vitamin A stimulates collagen production and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Full of Antioxidants

Antioxidants are micronutrients that protect tissues in the body from the damaging effects of free radicals. Rosehip oil is rich in a range of antioxidants, including beta-carotene and lycopene.

Benefit to skin: Antioxidants help to protect and repair skin from the effects of stress, pollution, dehydration and other environmental factors that lead to premature ageing.

Anti-inflammatory properties

The essential fatty acids in Rosehip Oil play an important role as anti-inflammatory agents. Ideally Rosehip Oil should be used when a wound is healing, to prevent infection which causes further scarring, and to soften the skin so that it doesn’t tear as it heals, minimising scarring.

Benefit to skin: Kosmea’s Certified Organic Rosehip Oil applied to wounds that are still healing, recent scars as well as old scars, will help to improve them in both colour and texture.
